The Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, has invited the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and other stakeholders to the flag-off of the dualisation of the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road linking Oyo and Ogun states.
The flag-off ceremony is scheduled for Monday, August 24, 2026, at the open field of Legacy Estate, along Idi Ayunre, Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, Ibadan, at 11:00 a.m.
Umahi, in an invitation letter dated August 20, 2026, said the Federal Executive Council (FEC) had approved the award of the contract for the dualisation of the road to JRB Construction Limited.
The minister said the project was part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at improving road infrastructure, enhancing the travel experience for road users and fostering economic growth and sustainability in the region.
He said the presence of traditional rulers and other stakeholders at the ceremony would underscore the importance of collaboration among the Federal Government, state governments and traditional institutions in driving infrastructure development.
The Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road is an important transport corridor linking Oyo and Ogun states and facilitating movement of people, goods and services between Ibadan and communities in Ogun and the Lagos axis.
The dualisation is expected to improve connectivity along the corridor, enhance road capacity and support economic activities across the two states.
Umahi expressed confidence that the participation of the Olubadan and other stakeholders would add significance to the commencement of the project.
The minister also assured the traditional ruler of his highest regards, while looking forward to his presence at the ceremony.
