The Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN) has commended President Bola Tinubu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and security agencies for securing the release of the students and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The association, in a statement jointly signed by its President, Prof. Dhikru Adewale Yagboyaju, and Public Relations Officer, Hon. Mudirakat Ajibona, described the successful rescue after 59 days in captivity as a welcome development.
MAN congratulated the families of the released victims on their reunion with their loved ones, while expressing sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives during the ordeal.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost their lives during this unfortunate incident. We pray that God grants their families the strength to bear the irreparable loss,” the association said.
The association urged the Federal Government, Oyo State Government and security agencies not to relent in their efforts to tackle insecurity, stressing the need for sustained preventive measures.
According to MAN, greater emphasis should be placed on intelligence gathering, effective surveillance and other proactive security strategies to forestall similar incidents in the future.
The association expressed optimism that stronger collaboration among governments, security agencies and local communities would enhance public safety and protect lives and property across the country.
