The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, has recorded an impressive performance at the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) National Students’ Sports Competition held at the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo State, winning one gold and two silver medals.
The feat placed UNIMED second on the overall medal table, further highlighting the institution’s growing profile in university sports.
The university’s basketball team emerged champions after a series of keenly contested matches, displaying impressive teamwork, tactical discipline and determination throughout the competition.
UNIMED also claimed silver medals in the men’s and women’s relay events, rounding off a strong showing across both team and track events.
Reacting to the achievement, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, congratulated the athletes, coaches, officials and the University Sports and Recreation Centre for their outstanding performance.
Adejuyigbe described the feat as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes, as well as the university’s growing commitment to sports development.
She said, “Congratulations to our athletes, coaches and everyone who contributed to this remarkable achievement. You have made UNIMED proud, and your performance demonstrates that excellence goes beyond the classroom.”
The Vice-Chancellor urged the athletes to sustain the winning spirit and continue to uphold the university’s reputation in sporting competitions.
