The association said the event would herald a new phase of student leadership focused on policy-driven advocacy, constructive engagement with government and institutional stakeholders, and reforms aimed at improving the welfare of students across the country.

In a statement signed by the National President,  Afeez Babatunde Akinteye, NANS said accreditation of delegates, executive members and invited dignitaries would commence at 9:00 a.m., while the inauguration ceremony would begin at 10:00 a.m.

According to the statement, the leadership transition represents a significant milestone in the association’s efforts to reposition student representation through diplomacy, intellectual engagement and institutional reforms.

The association said the incoming executive council would prioritise addressing challenges confronting Nigeria’s tertiary education sector, including administrative bottlenecks, campus security, student welfare and access to quality education.

It added that the new leadership would replace confrontational activism with constructive dialogue, strategic partnerships and evidence-based policy engagement with the Federal Government, heads of tertiary institutions and other stakeholders.

“The incoming administration is fully prepared to lead with integrity, courage and a structured sense of purpose to ensure that the voice of the Nigerian student remains a powerful catalyst for national development,” the statement said.

NANS  disclosed that the new executive would monitor the implementation of student-focused government policies, particularly the student loan scheme, while advocating transparency in the allocation of education funds and increased investment in infrastructure across tertiary institutions.

It said the administration would also work to ensure that no Nigerian student is denied access to higher education because of economic constraints.

The association called on Student Union Governments (SUGs), zonal leaderships and student stakeholders nationwide to support the incoming executive, stressing that collective commitment would be essential to achieving meaningful reforms in the education sector.

NANS also announced that attendance at the inauguration ceremony would be strictly by invitation, noting that access to the venue would be subject to security and protocol requirements.

It added that media coverage and accreditation had been centralised through the convention planning committee to ensure seamless reporting of the event across television networks, digital platforms and national newspapers.

The association expressed optimism that the transition would usher in a new era of responsible student leadership, stronger advocacy and constructive engagement in advancing the interests of Nigerian students.
